The Real Law of Attraction - I
Flying Fish - Herbert Draper What is it in your life that you are fishing for? If you received it would it take you flying. What would it be that would allow you to know that you are the play of the Ocean of Love. What would it take to let you appreciate the attractiveness that is at the heart of who you are. Although life many of us are fishing on the wrong side of the boat. We are told that all we need is more of this or more of that. We are not told that we can then become addicted to the more and live as hungry ghosts in a world where we never get enough and learn to spread our wings and fly. Around the world at this present time there is happening the experience of major bankruptcy. That which manifests in the material world arises from the thoughts and feelings of the human collective. Spiritually speaking, much of what is being taught as a way of life are teaching that invite spiritual bankruptcy. This is the case with the modern invitation to what is called The Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction as understood by most people is about "How to get more good things." This focus places the focus on you. Rather than make you attractive it makes you tie yourself tighter to the core idea of suffering. This is the idea that you are a thinker living in a body in time and space and separate from Love. It is an idea that you manipulate energy for your purpose. Love is the most attractive no thing that you can ever not get. This is the riddle at the heart of Life. Why do you not get it? Because you are it. When you know this you are attractive. This attractiveness becomes obvious. There's nothing you need to add to yourself because you are the Love of Self (Self with a capital S). Such is the Kingdom of Heaven here in an earthly body. Attractiveness under the real Law of Attraction gives. It is creation recognizing itself. It is the lover falling in love with the Beloved. Love gives because Love loves the experience of creative expansion. It is a very different experience to feel that connection to the infinite possibility that plays through you. It is a very different experience to spending your time pushing the river of life in order that it might flow your way. The Law of Attraction isn't about getting more. Nor is it about getting less. It is about being available to the power of Love for the purpose of Love. This means that you don't dictate. Rather you listen. You learn how to get still enough to become available for Love in action. It knows exactly why it created you and for what purpose. This isn't done for the purpose of self seeking which takes you deeper into separateness and thus sorrow. You seek so that you will find the real key to happiness which is to move in the world, unknowingly, as a servant of Love. Notice the word unknowingly in the last sentence. This is the bit that the ego cannot abide or abide in. This is a very different focus to the Law of Attraction that invites you into having more. This is more money, better relationships and more things. However, it is not the core invitation that gives you a foundation that is unmoved by the drama and the trauma of your life situation. There is nothing more attractive than Love. Except that it isn't attractive if you are unable to experience it as the transformative invitation it always is. You can spend years practicing the Law of Attraction and it will always be about you and your needs and what you haven't got. Thus your focus is on what you haven't got. Thus the focus is on you. However, the focus isn't yet on the real you which the Law of Attraction gives away because the real you is a wellspring of Love. Much of the seeking to improve our lot, or increase our slice of the cake is because at heart there is inside each of us an emptiness that cannot be filled. This writer thinks that this is part of the creative process. It isn't a punishment but an invitation to what is real. This emptiness cannot be filled by anything other than the direct experiential knowing that the real you is the Life of Love eternal. Nothing can compensate you for not feeling alive to this knowing. Real punishment would mean that you couldn't ever know this to be who you are. The truth is that you can never fall out of this knowing but you can and do forget. Work with the Law of Attraction by working honestly with how you feel and how you feel in each moment. Work with the Law of Attraction in the present moment. Learn from little children. Watch how they are in their bodies and how they are constantly curious.

They haven't yet learned to think with the 'I' that constantly separates and divides everything into thought and words and concepts. Their heads are not yet full of noise. They have an intelligence we have forgotten. They are their bodies. They are bodies of presence. They can teach you and I more about the Law of Attraction than the practice of how to get what you want ever will. There is a paradox to be lived through the Law of Attraction. It is that this Law expands within you the more you are not. The paradox is this. The not you, meaning that which is beyond the ego, is so beautifully attractive that you can and will know that you don't have to spend your life looking for Love. There isn't a requirement for you to have what modern teachers of The Law of Attraction call vision boards. Vision boards are needed when you don't have insight. Insight into your nature will allow you to know (beyond intellectual knowing) what is really attractive. This attractiveness does not lose its attractiveness over time or time in the body. In fact, fidelity to this attractiveness expands this attractiveness. You become what Wayne Dwyer in his book called The Power of Intention - an attractor. When this is known and felt then you can become a transmitter of the invitation to the direct experience of Love. This is very different from being focused on a Law of Attraction that you see separate and apart from yourself. This is very different from a Law that you manipulate in order to give yourself a sense of something that is not already the fullness of the being you are. The who of who you are is so beautifully and naturally attractive. This is why all wisdom teaching invite you to be the knowing of this extra ordinary experience. It isn't something that you work to get but it is known through the surrender of the separate sense of self. It is invited by the Master Jesus when he said, "Those who would save their life shall lose it." This is the instruction par excellence at the heart of what it is to feel attractive. You as Love in form cannot be more attractive because the very essence of creation is the power of love creating form within time. To know this is what it really means to have the time of your life. Again the best way to have the time of your life is to drop the idea that you are ever separate from Life. Then you will laugh at the very idea that you could ever be more attractive than the Love you already are. © Tony Cuckson 2009
