A Knight at the Crossroads

Here is one of this writer's favorite paintings. It is one of the paintings that support the work and invitation from The Anamcara Experience - Ready to Radiate eCourse.

The title of this picture alone symbolizes much that we can understand about the journey, particularly the journey into higher and higher expressions of creativity arising from alignment with the Source of All Creation.

All of us reach crossroads within our life situation. In one sense these are necessary in order that we evolve. Without resistance there would be inertia. Resistance is to be expected and to be worked with and through. Often when we get through such times of upheaval and move on we look back and wonder: Who would I be if this situation had not come into my life?

When we come to crossroads we have to make a choice. Although there are four directions there tends to be only three choices. This where we can stay where we are. We can move backwards or we can move forwards. To align ourselves with creation though we only really have one choice. Creation creates. Creation expands into more and more complex forms. It expands forever. Your joy is in flowing with the way this creative expansion is designed to move through you.

For this writer this picture is one of a stage on the spiritual journey. It portrays the choice we have to either align or not to the Will of Creation. Creation is creating all things from nothing. In each and every moment you are being lived by Creation. You are being informed by and from the formless. Only you do not know this as a feeling experience that gives you peace and contentment.

The Knight at the crossroads has come to a pivotal point in his life's journey. There is now no going back. At the crossroads a choice had to be made. Now a crossroads has, by its very nature, a cross within it. This is one of the major symbols recognized across all time and all cultures. A cross symbolizes unity.

The cross can be seen as having vertical and horizontal axes. The vertical axis represents the timeless or eternal now. The horizontal axis represents time with its beginnings and endings. At the central point time and the timeless meet. This is what it means to be a fully realized human being. A human being who has become not homo sapiens but homo spiritus to quote Death of the Mythic God.

A crossroads offers choices. Ultimately, the choice is between fear and love. The choice is between expansion and stagnation. One choice might be to follow the motion of creation with its essence of joy. The alternative is to resist and experience the tension of creation blocked by fear. This is what we know as suffering.
