Wild Geese- Artist Unknown Does
God Have a Plan for Your Life? This writer was brought up in Northern Ireland. As a boy, he was sent to Sunday School in the morning from 10 –11:30am. Then he went to one church from noon until 1pm. Then there was Sunday School again from 3:00-4:30pm. Finally there church again from 7-8:30pm. In between there was Sunday lunch but were not allowed to play football or card games. Frankly, Sunday was incredibly dull. When I was about seventeen years old my mother, who was an avid reader, gave me a book on yoga. This was at a time when yoga had never been heard off. Reading this book I knew what was, in part, missing from my life. I am still very interested in the teachings that were being spread in my homeland and abroad by the same mindset that left me feeling empty and afraid. One of the key messages of my Christian (as differentiated from a Christ Consciousness) upbringing was that I was a sinner. The second was that God had a plan and that I sure as hellfire needed to be a part of this plan. Even at a young age this didn’t quite sit right with me. At this stage of this writer’s journey the answer to the question, “Does God have a plan for my life?” is yes. And No. Now this is not a way of sitting on the fence. When you move beyond the literal interpretation of wisdom teachings you move into parable and paradox. Literal interpretation is just what it says on the tin – it’s one interpretation. It’s not an insight. It is merely knowledge and not direct knowing. The intellect, which tends to promote God as having a plan, usually baulks at the idea of paradox. It is the heart that accepts the power and beauty of the unknown and the unknown way of perceiving that loves paradox. It is the language of the soul. In the Anamcara Experience eCourse - Ready to Radiate this language is given through storytelling, folksong, art, poetry and practice. This universal source of becoming that is given many names, including God, has its own purpose. This purpose can be summed up in a phrase: Creation as Love in Action. Life arises because the One became the two that became the 10,000 things (to quote Lao Tzu). This universal intelligence creates because of the joy of creation. It loves to dance. One of the songs that is in xxxx is Lord of the Dance. The Lord of the Dance is I AM that I AM. This is Gods official description in the Bible. Another word for God is Love, but it is not the sentimental experience that we attach to it in order to try to transcend our sense of separateness. The universal plan, or God’s plan, is not linear. It does not go from A to B. God does not live in time and therefore does not have a plan in time. You cannot plan eternity. Eternity has no beginning or end. Only plans have beginnings or an endings. So to say God has a plan to go from A to B is a projection from the human mind. It is the intellect that is part of the One Mind trying to contain the whole of the One Mind. It cannot be done. The well can hold the ocean but not by interpreting it to be in a particular way. While God’s plan is not linear it is expansive. It is the movement of Love. This movement never began and never ends. It is what most religious people tend to avoid and do not experience – eternal life. Eternal life is life experienced outside of time itself and beyond the limited sense of self we refer to as "me." Eternal life is graced to those willing to become great nobodies. So Love expands eternally for the joy of this creation. Yet it does not know itself. So in order to know itself it creates a resistance. The boundlessness that is Love creates a boundary. It creates boundaries without number. It gets to know the awakening of Love through setting limits. You are one of these limits but you are also the limitless within limitation. This is what you have forgotten or to put it in more mystical terms are ignorant off. This does not mean you are not intelligent in many ways. It does mean you are ignoring who you are. God has one plan for you and everyone else. While it is the same for everyone it is different for everyone. The plan, which is not so much a plan, is actually an invitation to play as Love in form and to play as Love in form forever. As you play you go higher and higher into Love. You expand; you go deeper. But this deep has no bottom and this expansion has no end. Christians who are literalists (and this also applies to other faiths, too) talk about following God’s Plan and doing the will of God. They take this to mean doing good and avoiding the bad. The good often means converting those of a different persuasion to what they call ‘the true faith.’ They invoke the Lxxx but avoid the instruction of the Master Teacher that says:xxxxxxx. The good in the past had lead to Crusaders, witch burnings, denigration of women, demonisation of homosexuals and others considered what we in Ireland call ‘outside the Pale.’ An Anamcara, or soul friend, is all for you doing the will of God and following God’s plan, which is one without boundaries. The Bible tells us that God is Love. You cannot fall out of this creative energy that creates you. There is only one will and that is the will of Love to express endlessly. Your only real choice is to choose to align with this infinite, creative force. How you do this is also a paradox. You have to journey in time, form and space. You have to journey into limitation, while never being apart from the reality that you are the wave on the ocean of universal love. This is the real meaning of the parable of the Prodigal Son (who could also be a prodigal daughter.) Then one day you will glimpse. One day you will be graced. On that day, and in that timeless moment you will become a living paradox. You will not simply experience the Love of God as an intellectual idea but you will become that which you are never, in truth, separate from. You will be one and apart, knowing you are both at the same time. This will totally shatter your idea that God has some form of plan. You will know for certain that God is a Lover and not a planner, a player, or a strategist. Your Work, which is your real work, is to come back home to the play of Love. Most religious institutions will keep you religious. They will keep you tied to the literal rather than the paradoxical. All religions have a mystical side to them. The mystics of all faiths are the true sons and daughters of the play of Love. A soul friend, an Anam cara, simply invites you to join the dance. ©
